How does EMSCULPT Work?

EMSCULPT works using high frequency electromagnetic stimulation to cause the muscles to contract and engage beyond what you could do during normal exercise. The result is not only larger muscle fibers but also a higher number of fibers. EMSCULPT is not a device to primarily melt fat, but the high metabolic need during the treatment can burn fat cells more so than during a workout. It has been clinically tested for safety and effectiveness in 7 peer-reviewed clinical studies to increase muscle mass an average of 16%.

How many EMSCULPT treatments do I need?

The standard EMSCULPT treatment protocol involves a series of 4 treatments which are done every 2-3 days.

Many decide to do maintenance treatments once a month or once a quarter. With a regular healthy diet and exercise regimen, results have remained or even improved over the course of a year even without maintenance treatments.

How long does each EMSCULPT treatment take?

Each EMSCULPT treatment lasts 30 minutes. There is no need for numbing or preparation, so you are in and out of clinic and back to your day quickly. Many people even like to come on their lunch break!

How fast will I see results from EMSCULPT?

Most people start to see and feel results right after a treatment, but the biggest improvement is usually expected 2-4 weeks after the last session. Results can be maintained with exercise or with additional maintenance treatments.

Is EMSCULPT right for me if I also have excess fat I want to get rid of?

EMSCULPT will slightly reduce excess fat overlying the abdominal muscles, but recommendations will be given at your initial evaluation with Dr. Saxon if other treatments are needed to remove fat. We often pair EMSCULPT with Exilis in body areas to further reduce fat and tighten skin in the areas treated. We call this tailored treatment the Saxy Slim and Sculpt!

Emsculpt FAQs

Is EMSCULPT painful?

EMSCULPT treatment is not painful, though the muscle contractions produced with the high-frequency electromagnetic stimulation can feel intense. Some Austin & Dallas EMSCULPT patients describe a pulling sensation, but treatment is comfortable. Throughout your treatment, your specialist can adjust the intensity of your treatment if needed.

What are the risks and side effects of EMSCULPT?

Our Austin or Dallas EMSCULPT sessions are non-invasive and well-tolerated. EMSCULPT treatment does not affect the skin, so there is little risk of dermatological conditions or side effects resulting from treatment. The most common side effect of EMSCULPT is mild muscle soreness, similar to the soreness you might feel after a rigorous workout. However, EMSCULPT also helps to remove lactic acid from the body, significantly reducing this side effect.

Who is a good candidate for EMSCULPT?

EMSCULPT is a great treatment option for men and women who would like to increase muscle tone in various areas of their bodies. It is an excellent addition to regular exercise and a generally healthy lifestyle. EMSCULPT can improve athletic performance and create a more sculpted appearance.

Due to EMSCULPT’s high-frequency electromagnetic stimulation, patients with electronic or metal medical implants (including orthopedic hardware and metal IUDs) may not be candidates for EMSCULPT. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should postpone their EMSCULPT treatment.
